Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria under either Category A or Category B, alongside language requirements. Under Category A, candidates must possess a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in a concerned, relevant, or allied subject from an Indian University or an accredited foreign university, with the specific relevant discipline determined by the Dean of the concerned School in consultation with the School Council before vacancies are notified. Besides this, candidates must have cleared the NET conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar accredited test like SET, unless they hold a Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with the UGC Regulations of 2009 or 2016 (and their amendments) or from National Institutes of Importance. Candidates registered for a Ph.D. prior to July 11, 2009, are also exempt from NET/SET subject to fulfillment of the following conditions certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) of the concerned university: (a) the degree was awarded in regular mode, (b) the thesis was evaluated by at least two external examiners, (c) an open viva voce was conducted, (d) the candidate published two research papers from the Ph.D. work (at least one in a refereed journal), and (e) the candidate presented at least two papers in conferences or seminars sponsored by the UGC, ICSSR, CSIR, or similar agencies. NET/SET is also not required for Master’s programs in disciplines where these tests are not conducted. Candidates with publications in peer-reviewed journals approved by Goa University or listed by the UGC are desirable. Alternatively, under Category B, a candidate is eligible if their Ph.D. degree was obtained from a foreign university or institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Rankings by (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) The Times Higher Education (THE) OR (iii) The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai) at any time. Finally, knowledge of Konkani is mandatory, while knowledge of Marathi is desirable
For post Sr.no:- (2-6)
(1) Good Academic record with at least 55% of marks or equivalent grade at Master’s Degree level in the relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a foreign University.
(2) National Eligibility Test (NET)/State Level Eligibility Test (SET) shall remain the compulsory requirement for appointment as Assistant Professor: Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in compliance of the “University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/ /SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Colleges”
(3) Knowledge of Konkani.
Note: In case of non-availability of suitable candidate with the knowledge of Konkani, this requirement can be relaxed.
(4) Above posts are for the academic year 2025-26 (one year only).
